How do I clean the oven on my cooker?

Cleaning Your Oven

Cleaning your oven regularly can help prolong its lifespan, prevent problems from occurring, and keep your food tasting great. While some people prefer to get their ovens professionally cleaned, the process of cleaning an oven is actually very easy. The frequency of your cleaning schedule will depend on how often you use your appliance but, as a general guide, we suggest deeply cleaning your machine every few months to prevent the grease, bacteria and odours.

There are a few key areas of your oven that will need cleaning: the side racks, the control panel, the exterior oven door and the interior oven door. To clean your oven you will need rubber gloves, a bucket of water, a cloth and washing up liquid. For tougher stains, you will need a suitable oven cleaning agents or glass cleaner. Before using oven cleaning products, make sure to check they are suitable for your oven's interior. If you aren't sure what type of interior your oven has, please refer to your instruction manual.

For more detailed guidance on how to clean your oven, please read our dedicated 'how to clean an oven' how-to guide. For general oven cleaning guidance, please read the below instructions:

  1. Before cleaning your oven, please isolate the appliance from the electrical supply by switching it off at the cooker isolation switch. Alternatively, if the appliance has been connected through a plug socket, the plug must be removed from the socket.
  2. Make sure to allow enough time for your oven to cool down before cleaning.
  3. If your oven comes with catalytic liners, you won't need to clean them as they are cleaned automatically thanks to their porous surface, which attracts and burns the oil off once your oven reaches 200°C. Please refer to your instruction manual for more information.
  4. We recommend cleaning your oven thoroughly after every use. By regularly cleaning your appliance, you can make sure your oven stays in top condition for longer.
