My new cooker has a strong smell, why is this?

This is completely normal and referred to in the cooker user manual. All cooking appliances can give off a pungent smell and smoke when first used. This is caused by the removal of coatings applied during the production process and can last for up to half an hour. Open windows or doors to ventilate the room and follow the instructions mentioned in the “first use” section of the user manual.
