If you have an induction hob, you will need to use induction compatible pans for it to work. These are often identified with the induction symbol. You can also test compatibility by using a magnet on the bottom of the saucepan - if it clings onto it, then it should work with an induction hob. In addition to this, always make sure the whole of the heating surface is covered by the pan.
